The province of Tarragona registered 2,500 home purchases by foreign citizens during 2025, averaging seven per day, putting significant pressure on the available housing supply.

Data from the College of Property, Commercial and Movable Goods Registrars of Spain indicates that 15,235 home sales were closed in the province in 2025. Nearly one in six transactions, 17% of the total, was carried out by international buyers.
This volume not only consolidates the post-pandemic recovery but also places the province above the figures reached during the previous expansive cycle of the real estate sector. International profiles, often having greater purchasing power, typically pay in cash, as 57% of operations were closed with bank financing.

"Foreign purchases continue to represent a very important percentage of total operations. At the state level, we are around 15%, and although it depends heavily on the area, the European buyer still holds significant weight."

French, German, and Dutch citizens lead the ranking of nationalities acquiring housing in Tarragona, often for vacation or family use. This phenomenon, driven by the coastal appeal, fuels the debate on the impact on local housing access and the need to expand the residential stock.
