The shooting took place at kilometer 1,151 of the N-340, when a Ford Mondeo was shot at from a white Volkswagen Golf. The incident, quickly linked to an alleged drug-related settling of scores, required the activation of a police dragnet (operation cage) to intercept the perpetrators.
The driver and co-driver of the Mondeo suffered minor injuries due to the traffic accident they had while attempting to evade the projectiles, which hit the vehicle's bodywork without reaching the occupants. Both were treated by the SEM and taken to the hospital.
One week after the events, the Mossos Investigation Unit reported that the shooters remain at large. However, the driver of the attacked vehicle, a 25-year-old man, has been arrested.
He is accused of a crime against public health (drug trafficking) and another against road safety for driving without ever having obtained a license. His companion was identified, but no charges were filed against him.
