The Tarragona Provincial Council has finished the conditioning works on the T-310z and T-321 roads, connecting the T-310 with Vilanova d’Escornalbou. The works, which cross the municipal areas of Mont-roig del Camp and Vilanova d’Escornalbou, including the hamlet of l’Arbocet, represent an investment of €3.2 million.
The inauguration of the improvements was attended by the president of the Tarragona Provincial Council, Noemí Llauradó, accompanied by the Deputy of Territorial Infrastructure, Iris Castell; the mayor of Vilanova d’Escornalbou, Xavier Garcia; and the mayor of Mont-roig del Camp and Vice President of the Council, Fran Morancho. Deputy Joan Sans also participated.
Noemí Llauradó highlighted the scale of the project, emphasizing the substantial improvement in road safety, a "primary" factor in all Council projects. She stressed that the road is a testament to the institution's "active listening" towards municipalities to identify and resolve their needs.
For her part, Iris Castell reiterated the importance of the improvements for safety and traffic flow, adapting to the "current climatic scenario". Mayors Xavier Garcia and Fran Morancho thanked the Council for its sensitivity, highlighting the improved connection between the two municipalities and the territorial connectivity these roads provide.
The intervention focused on a 3-kilometer stretch, widening the road to 8 meters. Two bridges over the barranc de l’Olivera and Riera de la Font have been widened, and two roundabouts have been constructed to calm traffic, one at the intersection of the roads and another at the access to l’Arbocet.
The project, involving over 150 workers, also included drainage improvements, the creation of passable verges, renewal of signage, and the installation of lighting at the roundabouts. Furthermore, underground telecommunications ducting has been laid for future fiber optic installation. Approximately 2,800 vehicles use this road daily.
During the visit, President Llauradó also learned about projects funded by the Pla ImpulsDipta in Vilanova d’Escornalbou, such as the improvement works on Avinguda Catalunya (phase 2), which include a sidewalk and a bike lane, and the replacement of windows and doors at Escola Font de l’Arc to enhance climate control and energy savings.
