Storm hitting Catalonia leaves over 76 liters in Constantí and 125 emergency calls

The Camp de Tarragona region is the most affected by intense rainfall, as Civil Protection maintains maximum alert for flooding and snow.

The severe rain and snow episode affecting Catalonia since this Saturday has started intensely in Camp de Tarragona, resulting in 125 emergency calls by noon.

The highest precipitation record was noted in Constantí, with 76.7 liters per square meter, followed by Blancafort (66.5 liters) and the city of Tarragona (63.3 liters), according to data from the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya (Catalan Meteorological Service). Other municipalities such as l'Espluga de Francolí and Cambrils have also exceeded 35 liters.

The 112 emergency phone received a total of 125 calls until 1 p.m. this Saturday due to rain and snow. The region with the most warnings was Tarragonès, with 30, and Perafort was the most affected municipality with 19 calls. The Bombers de la Generalitat (Generalitat Firefighters) have responded to 46 incidents, 25 of them in Tarragona, mainly due to landslides and water accumulation.
Given the forecast for one of the worst storms of the winter, the special emergency plans Inuncat and Neucat of the Generalitat de Catalunya remain active in the emergency phase since this Friday. Generous snowfalls are expected in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, with accumulations of up to 40 centimeters above 2,000 meters, and roads such as the BV-4024 between Guardiola de Berguedà and Bagà have been closed.
