The Tarragona City Council Plenary rejected the motion by ERC and En Comú Podem to modify the Savinosa Coastal Path project, while simultaneously announcing the tender for the artistic direction of the Tarraco Viva festival.

The motion, promoted by the SOS Costa i Camp de Tarragona platform, deemed the project "counterproductive" due to its landscape impact and oversized nature (a five-meter-wide path). PSC, PP, and Junts voted against, while ERC, ECP, Vox, and one non-attached councilor supported it.

"It is not a road in the middle of the Morrot de la Savinosa, and it does not harm any protected species. Environmental reports endorse the project."

In the same session, a PP proposal to stop the pedestrianization pilot test on Rambla Nova was rejected. Earlier, Óscar García was sworn in as PP councilor, replacing Elisa Vedrina, promising to work with "an immense sense of responsibility."

"I will work with an immense sense of responsibility, respect for this city council, and a deep love for the city where I was born and raised."

Separately, the council has started the process to tender the artistic direction of the Tarraco Viva festival, following the retirement of the former director, Magí Seritjol, who turned the event into a European reference. The contract will last two years, extendable to four.
