The campaign will pay special attention to distractions, risky riding, and correct parking for cyclists, as well as behaviors that could endanger their safety or hinder their mobility.
Regarding personal mobility vehicles (VMPs), infractions such as riding on sidewalks and pedestrian areas (except skateboards at walking pace), carrying more passengers than the vehicle's capacity, using headphones or mobile phone devices, and riding at night or in low visibility conditions without lights or reflective elements will be controlled.
Since October 1st, new measures for VMPs include a minimum age of 15 years, mandatory helmets, and the use of lights also during the day. The reform of the General Traffic Regulations also establishes that bicycles must preferably circulate in the center of the lane in urban environments to improve safety.
Workers who professionally operate bicycles or VMPs must compulsorily wear a helmet and a reflective vest. Furthermore, VMP drivers are subject to alcohol and drug tests, and parents or guardians are jointly liable for fines imposed on minors.
