The Local Security Board of Torredembarra has analyzed the security data for the past year, reporting a 13.3% decrease in known criminal offenses, from 1,132 to 982 penal infractions. The police resolution rate has increased from 35% to 40.3%. Crimes against property are down 18.4%, robberies with force by 30.3%, and robberies with violence or intimidation by 27.3%.
Mayor Raúl García highlighted the downward trend in crime, while acknowledging the challenge of translating this improvement into citizens' sense of security. He thanked the police forces for their work and emphasized the importance of coordination between security and emergency services.
Local Police managed 6.6% fewer requests, but citizen security interventions increased by 11.9%, accounting for 57% of demand. Incidents reported via the citizen app surged by 172%, establishing it as a direct communication channel.
Within the framework of the 2025-2029 Local Security Plan, Local Police recorded 5,329 operational actions in the first half of 2026, a 44.7% increase from the previous semester. Citizen security is the primary focus, followed by traffic and civility.
The integration of new technological tools, such as video surveillance and traffic control, will enhance public safety services. The municipality plans to expand this infrastructure in 2027 to improve incident detection and response times. Data analysis will also aid in better service planning, crucial given the population surge in summer, from 18,600 to nearly 60,000 residents.
Regarding road safety, the 2024-2027 Local Plan indicates a reduction in accidents, from 189 to 146 cases. Preventive alcohol and drug checks, along with joint operations with the Mossos d'Esquadra, have been strengthened. The goal for 2027 is to reduce urban accidents with victims by 20%.
The Generalitat's Firefighters have confirmed that Torredembarra is being considered for the potential establishment of a new Fire Station between Tarragona and El Vendrell, a long-awaited facility.
The Board also discussed renewing the police collaboration agreement in the Baix Gaià region, with the potential inclusion of Roda de Berà to expand joint planning of operations and enhance coordination with the Mossos d'Esquadra.
The meeting included representatives from various institutions, such as Mayor Raúl García, the Government Delegate in Tarragona, Lucía López, and officials from the Mossos d’Esquadra, Local Police, National Police, and Guardia Civil.
