The Gandesa City Council has formally declared its opposition to new wind and solar projects planned within the municipality, citing concerns about their impact on sensitive areas.

The Gandesa City Council has formally expressed its opposition to new wind and solar energy projects planned for the municipality. This stance was communicated by the mayor, Carles Luz, during a meeting with representatives from ICAEN and the Department of Industry, where the potential impact of these installations was analyzed.
The council has conveyed its concern regarding the potential negative effects these projects could have on areas considered particularly sensitive within the municipality, such as les Carrubes, les Cendroses, les Guardioles, and els Graus. In response, the City Council has announced its intention to file administrative objections to try and halt their implementation.
In parallel to this opposition, the municipal government is working on drafting a specific plan for the protection of the area's agroforestry mosaic. This initiative aims to preserve the landscape, environmental, agricultural, and heritage values that characterize the territory.
The City Council advocates that the energy transition must be carried out through careful planning, seeking territorial consensus, and ensuring the safeguarding of strategic spaces for the municipality's future.
