The local government opposes replacing the current line between Aragon and la Secuita with a new infrastructure that triples the current power capacity. Officials argue that the new pylons threaten the agricultural soil of Terra Alta, a region heavily dependent on farming.

The MAT project will impact 28 municipalities across the counties of Terra Alta, Ribera d'Ebre, Priorat, Baix Camp, and Tarragonès.
