The Terra Alta County Council announced this February 12th that it will file formal objections against Red Eléctrica's project to build a new Very High Voltage (MAT) line.

The local government opposes replacing the current line between Aragon and la Secuita with a new infrastructure that triples the current power capacity. Officials argue that the new pylons threaten the agricultural soil of Terra Alta, a region heavily dependent on farming.

"The infrastructure provides no added value to the region and endangers the Terres de l'Ebre Biosphere Reserve."
