The drill focused on decision-making and strategy, without operational deployment on the ground. It simulated a situation of intense rainfall causing a significant rise in the Riu Sió river, impacting the urban area of Agramunt.
Following the exercise, a review meeting was held to improve protocols and incorporate enhancements into the PAM. Agramunt already has a flood PAM and is working on incorporating a forest fire plan and revising its basic plan. The drill helped identify areas for improvement in the planned flood risk procedures.
The event was organized by the Civil Protection Service of the Generalitat in Lleida and the Agramunt City Council. Participants included the mayor, as plan director, all members of the emergency committee (councilors and head of Local Police), three officers from the Generalitat's Civil Protection, members of local action groups (Local Police and Municipal Brigade), and as observers, the Civil Protection technician from the Consell Comarcal de l'Urgell and personnel from the Agramunt Volunteer Firefighters' Park.
Prior to the drill, on Wednesday, October 14th, technicians from the Generalitat's Civil Protection provided training to municipal staff on the key aspects of the flood PAM.
