The new focus was detected just 3 kilometers from the initial case confirmed in late December, within the established surveillance perimeter. Rapid detection was possible thanks to preventive analytical tests being carried out on all farms in the area.
Following this new detection, the Department has expanded the surveillance radius to 10 kilometers around the affected farm. This measure increases the number of towns included in the control area by four: Bellvís, la Fuliola, Linyola, and Poal. Coordination with the Arnau de Vilanova University Hospital has also been activated for the preventive monitoring of workers.
The consumption of poultry meat and eggs poses no risk to human health, as insisted by the Government.
In parallel, the Government reported on other sanitary episodes. A sanctioning file will be opened against the owner of a farm with contagious nodular dermatosis (DNC) for failing to comply with the mandatory vaccination requirement before January 31. Regarding African Swine Fever (ASF), 18 new positives have accumulated, totaling 47 cases detected exclusively in wild boars.
