The Tàrrega City Council has deployed a team of ten civic agents, organized into five pairs, who are now patrolling public areas. This initiative seeks to improve coexistence and the condition of the urban environment, dividing the city into six operational zones.
The agents prioritize a community-focused approach. On one hand, they perform operational tasks such as collecting small litter from the streets and manually removing weeds from sidewalks and road verges. On the other hand, they interact with citizens through conversations and a survey to understand their concerns, suggestions, and doubts, particularly regarding waste management.
This survey, conducted directly on the street, helps assess aspects like cleanliness, urban furniture, and green areas, identifying maintenance priorities based on residents' perceptions. Initial days show a positive reception to the initiative, with citizen concerns focusing on general cleanliness, dog waste, and the importance of mutual respect.
This action complements the educational efforts on the Door-to-Door selective collection system (PaP) and is part of a broader municipal action plan to combat incivility and improve urban cleanliness. The second phase of the plan involves hiring a security company to inspect and penalize improper waste bag disposal.
