The final performance of the cycle took place last Saturday, August 29th, in Riudovelles, featuring a cantada of havaneras and tavern songs by the renowned group Els Pescadors de l’Escala. The Empordà-based ensemble presented a repertoire of a cappella vocal harmonies and traditional arrangements from the Catalan songbook. The evening included the traditional dinner with cóc during the intermission.
This year's edition has been notable for combining various expressions of Catalan culture, decentralizing activities and bringing traditional music to the villages within the municipality. The program began on July 18th with a sardana dance in the Plaça del Carme, led by the Cobla Tàrrega. Later, on August 7th, the Plaça dels Comediants hosted the duo Ballaveu, who celebrated their tenth anniversary with a dance workshop and the presentation of their album 'Arada'.
The cycle also included a havaneras performance in the Jardins de l’Ateneu, organized by the Societat Ateneu, on Saturday, August 22nd, featuring the group Peix Fregit. The second sardana dance also took place on this date.
Through this initiative, the Tàrrega City Council reaffirms its commitment to preserving and promoting traditional musical heritage, offering free, high-quality cultural events for all audiences as part of the municipality's summer activities.
