Bellpuig Hosts 41st Valeri Serra i Boldú Popular Culture Awards Ceremony

The work on hell and demons in Mallorcan folk tales by Maria Magdalena Gelabert i Miró wins the absolute category.

The Teatre Armengol in Bellpuig was the venue for the 41st edition of the Valeri Serra i Boldú Popular Culture Awards, which honored research and dissemination works on traditional Catalan culture.

In the absolute category, the jury awarded the prize to La construcció d’un món infernal: l’infern i el dimoni a les Rondalles Mallorquines d’Antoni M. Alcover, by Maria Magdalena Gelabert i Miró. This work, endowed with 5,000 euros, was praised for its rigorous analysis of the imagery of demons and hell in Mallorcan folk tales.

The children's category awarded first prize to El Cau by Maria Domínguez Rubiol, followed by L’ofici de la foscor by Edgar Montserrat Macià, and Anar a caçar pel terme by Pau Viladot Llanes. In the youth A category, Anna Torres Marcén won first prize with Castellserà s’emporta la palma!, while Alba Cots Rodero secured second with L’aigua que governa Bellpuig: poder, territori i comunitat (segles XIII-XIX). Finally, in the youth B category, Nour Abed Kharoun won with Sota les espurnes, and Laia Hernanz Atero received second prize for Barbens: la cort de l’Urgell.
During the evening, the winning book from the previous edition, Curs de literatura oral. Cinc conferències d’Andreu Ferrer Ginard, by Josep Nicolau Perelló, was also presented by Eduard Puig. The event concluded with musical performances by the Orfeó Joventut de Bellpuig, who performed Goigs i Pregàries, and by Miquel Gil, a renowned voice in contemporary Valencian music.
