The city of Tàrrega will become the epicenter of circus and contemporary dance with the celebration of the 46th edition of FiraTàrrega, taking place from September 10th to 13th. The event focuses on virtuosity and risk, presenting a wide selection of shows that will occupy the streets and public spaces.
Contemporary dance will have a prominent presence with proposals such as Aleta by Cia. Marc Fernández, a piece inspired by the 'casteller' imaginary, honoring its values through a physical and virtuosic choreographic language. Manifesto by Ángel Duran summons five bodies to transform public space into a stage for collective fervor, where dance approaches 'trance' in a ritual of evasion and resistance. Cia. Maduixa presents Dominare, a critical choreography on the abuse of power and domination relationships, exploring the limits of movement with a poetic perspective. From Euskadi, ERTZA KONPAINIA arrives with UN'WE, reflecting on new forms of labor exploitation and social media dependency, while LASALA presents BURNT, a reflection on overconsumption and burnout. From Andalusia, Laura Morales offers La nueva bestia, inspired by shepherding and transhumance, questioning the abandonment of rural life.
Circus will also showcase its full strength with shows like Refugi by Cia. Manolo Alcántara, a solo exploring the compatibility between fears and hopes. Cia. Voël presents IF, which speaks of fleeting moments in life through bodily language and acrobatic sincerity. Duo Laos brings Espai Vital, a life story narrated by a child combining dance, acrobatics, and theatricality. Additionally, large-scale productions will be featured, such as Sísifos by the company UpArte, with fourteen acrobats exploring the triviality of human efforts, and Alboroto by Truca Circus, a circus and flamenco show for all audiences. The French company La Côte Folle presents Entre bous i vaques, a street performance investigating the relationship with shared space and mutual aid.
FiraTàrrega also hosts proposals that blend circus with other disciplines. Salar la pena by Juan Carlos Panduro hybridizes poetry and circus, taking the body in crisis as its central axis. From Portugal, Dulce Duca presents Um belo dia, a poetic, metaphorical, and surreal physical theatre, dance, and juggling performance.
