The gang operated by stealing vehicles using a system that interfered with the immobilizer. These vehicles were then used for the assaults and subsequently burned in an area of Urgell to eliminate any traces. This strategy aimed to hinder police investigation.
Among the criminal acts, a robbery on March 16 at a supermarket in Montblanc stands out, where they stole nearly 1,500 euros. The following day, March 17, they carried out three more robberies in less than 15 minutes at tobacconists in Belianes, Bellpuig, and Anglesola. After these heists, they burned the vehicle used on the outskirts of Tàrrega. That same evening, they assaulted a supermarket in Verdú.
“"When we saw him come in, we thought it was a joke."
In most of the robberies, the perpetrators were armed with large knives and covered their faces with masks. After each robbery, they fled quickly with the logistical support of a second vehicle that performed counter-surveillance tasks. Investigations led to the location of some group members in a property in L'Espluga de Francolí, from where they also conducted counter-surveillance to avoid detection.
The arrests of those involved occurred in several phases. On March 31, with a judicial order from the Cervera Court of First Instance, the property in L'Espluga de Francolí was searched, and one person was arrested. Simultaneously, two more members were arrested in Tàrrega, where the vehicle used for counter-surveillance and escape was also seized. Finally, on April 9, a fourth man was arrested in Cervera. All four were brought before a judge, and two of them have over thirty previous convictions.
