The Ministry of Culture and the Diocese of Urgell formalized the two agreements for the cession of use this Friday. The first agreement focuses on the churches of Sant Climent de Taüll and Sant Feliu de Barruera, both in the Vall de Boí (Alta Ribagorça) and part of the Consortium World Heritage of the Vall de Boí. This collaboration seeks to reinforce the "conservation, restoration, and highlighting of heritage assets of high historical and cultural value".
The agreement guarantees the continuity of the celebration of Catholic worship in the aforementioned churches, one of the characteristic elements of their inscription as Cultural Heritage.
The agreement allows the Consortium to continue exercising its functions of restoration and maintenance, in addition to promoting new investments and applying for the 2% Cultural Program. The Consortium will assume the ordinary maintenance of the buildings and the realization of cultural activities compatible with the patrimonial and religious character of the temples.
The second agreement focuses on the church-monastery of Santa Maria de Gerri de la Sal, in Pallars Sobirà, declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest. In this case, the management will be assumed by the Baix Pallars City Council and the Catalan Agency of Cultural Heritage, with the objective of guaranteeing architectural restoration and enhancing the value of the complex.
