The city of Tàrrega celebrated the Sant Magí festival yesterday with significant public participation, highlighted by an evening concert in the Estanyol square.

Sant Eloi park was the main venue for the Sant Magí activities in Tàrrega, where nearly 300 people attended the sunset concert in the Estanyol square. The event, organized by the Associació d’Amics de l’Arbre and the Municipal Department of Culture, also offered the opportunity for outdoor dining.
The voices of the group Petit Comité headlined the concert, performing a repertoire of a cappella covers of major hits. The ensemble, with over three decades of experience and seven singers, combined choreography and humor, presenting songs by international artists like ABBA and Neil Diamond, as well as Catalan groups such as Sau and Txarango. The show featured lighting specially designed for the occasion by Pau Farreny.
The Sant Magí celebrations began in the morning with the traditional sips of water from the Brufaganya springs in the Estanyol square, where a popular breakfast was also served. Due to extreme heat, the preceding mass at the hermitage of Sant Eloi concluded without the procession to the small Sant Magí square. Traditional jugs identifying the celebration were also sold.
The Sant Magí festival in Tàrrega, dating back to the 18th century and revived in the 1950s, is part of the summer program for the capital of the Urgell region. Other events include the Cycle of Habaneras and Traditional Music with Peix Fregit (August 21st), a sardana dance with the Cobla Tàrrega (August 22nd), and a habaneras singing event with Els Pescadors de l’Escala (August 29th). The local festivals of Altet, Riudovelles, and Talladell, as well as the FigaEstiu program in Figuerosa, are also scheduled.
