More than 200 athletes from twenty different nations competed this weekend in La Seu d'Urgell during the first stage of the Pyrenees International Cup at the Parc del Segre.

The event, sanctioned by the International Canoe Federation (ICF), allows participants to earn vital ranking points. These points are essential for determining starting orders and eligibility for major global tournaments throughout the season.
Local favorite Núria Vilarrubla took the victory in the women's C1 category, while Maialen Chourrat won the K1 race. In the men's division, Oier Diaz and David Llorente secured first place in C1 and K1 respectively, showcasing a high level of competition in the Urgell region.
The tournament will conclude next weekend, March 14-15, in Pau. This competition serves as a rehearsal for upcoming major events at the Parc del Segre, including the 2027 World Championships, which will offer qualifying spots for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
