This facility marks the first new IRTA center in 13 years. It will focus on applied science for farmers and forest managers, addressing challenges such as climate change and generational renewal in the primary sector. The Minister of Agriculture, Òscar Ordeig, attended the official presentation.
“"We must ensure that knowledge generated globally is channeled through this center to benefit the prosperity of mountain territories."
The center will eventually move to its permanent location at Ca l'Armenter in the historic heart of La Seu d'Urgell. Initial research lines include sustainable pasture management, mountain vineyards, and the circular economy.
