The parade, which started from Plaça dels Oms, brought together four participating groups in a diverse array of costumes to begin the route through Carrer Major. Deputy Mayor Gemma Tó highlighted the importance of summer camps, thanking them for their leisure and educational work throughout the summer months, and noted that the parade served as a closing event for these activities.
The event concluded at the marquee in Plaça Catalunya with a performance facilitated by students from the Escola de Teatre de la Seu d’Urgell. Through the camps' performances, local traditions such as the Ball Cerdà and the gegants (giants) were showcased. The day also included an institutional address and a children's inaugural speech, where the children played a central role, extending a welcome and fostering a sense of belonging to the festival.
The first day of the Festa Major also features sea shanties, sports competitions, and musical performances. The week's preliminary events have already filled the streets with music and culture. The celebration will continue until Tuesday, September 1st, with numerous activities for all ages, including the main Festa Major opening address on Saturday evening by EDFOR and the Ball Cerdà on Sunday midday, both of which will be broadcast live on Pirineus TV.
