The new facilities, occupying the second and third floors of the hospital, are now operational and accommodating patients. This improvement project has involved renovating and adapting spaces to consolidate a person-centered care model.
The project, which began in 2024, has led to a reorganization of spaces, featuring adapted rooms and larger, more comfortable common areas designed to create warm and humane environments. Cristina Aguar, the hospital's nursing director, highlighted these spaces along with the improved area for staff.
The mayor of La Seu d’Urgell, Joan Barrera, emphasized the importance of having adequate socio-health facilities, noting the initial 14 residential places and the plan for future expansion.
Eva Jordà, coordinator of the Department of Social Rights and Inclusion in Alt Pirineu, remarked on how the new facilities facilitate the implementation of a user-centered care model.
The total investment for the project amounts to approximately six million euros. Funding comes from the Department of Social Rights and Inclusion of the Generalitat de Catalunya, through European Next Generation EU funds, as well as from the Fundació Sant Hospital's own funds and an investment from the Diputació de Lleida.
Alongside the inauguration of this expansion, anticipation remains for the construction of the new hospital in La Seu. The tender for the executive project of this new center and for the new residence is expected by the end of the year.
