The Espai Ermengol-City Museum in La Seu d'Urgell has launched a cultural initiative allowing people with intellectual disabilities to serve as guides for an exhibition on local cheese traditions.

The project, titled The Cheese That Unites Us, is a collaboration between the La Seu d'Urgell Town Council, the Integra Pirineus Foundation, and the El Picot Social Club. This partnership aims to transform the museum into a more accessible space by placing these organizations' users at the heart of heritage storytelling.

"It is a clear example of how culture can be a tool for participation and inclusion, allowing everyone to feel part of our city's narrative."

Gemma Tó · Deputy Mayor
The guides have undergone nine months of training, including visits to the Pyrenees Agricultural School. Additionally, cognitive accessibility improvements have been made to the Espai Ermengol galleries to ensure the museum is more welcoming and easier to understand for all citizens.
Free guided sessions are scheduled for Saturday, February 21, and Thursday, February 26. No prior booking is required for this experience, which offers a unique human perspective on the region's dairy heritage.
