Bellcaire d'Urgell held an extraordinary plenary session yesterday for the election of Llorenç Llop as the new mayor, following the loss of his predecessor, in an event marked by emotion and commitment to the municipality.

The session, which took place in the assembly hall of the Town Hall, formalized the inauguration of Llop, 54, who had previously served as leader of the opposition between 2005 and 2019 and as a councilor since 2023. Additionally, Marc Darbra took office as a new councilor for the Esquerra Republicana municipal group.
One of the most significant moments of the day was the handing over of the mayoral staff by Antonia Pau, the widow of the previous mayor. The outgoing councilor, Jofre de Juan, wished to emphasize his predecessor's dedication, highlighting his affection for Bellcaire and his ability to listen and unite efforts.

"A person who loved Bellcaire above all else and who knew how to listen, unite, and always put people at the center."
