The town of Maldà will become the epicenter of sculpture with the sixth edition of the Maldant la Pedra festival, taking place from May 7 to 17 and featuring the participation of several artists.

This cultural event, already consolidated in the calendar of the Urgell region, will bring together artists Albert Gràcia, Marta Fresneda, Juan Gutiérrez, Rita Pereira, and Ruth Juan. For a week, these creators will work live on their sculptural works, offering the public the opportunity to witness the artistic process firsthand.

"The festival is based on three main pillars: the custody of heritage and our history; the commitment to culture as a tool for social transformation and the dignification of rural areas; and a forward-looking approach based on self-management and community involvement."

The festival program includes a wide variety of activities. Among them, a beginner's workshop on bas-relief stone carving will take place on Saturday, May 9, on Maria Rúbies street, led by Ingrid Tost. The following day, the activity From Rock to Edible Landscape is proposed, focusing on interpreting the landscape based on soils, in collaboration with the La Vall del Corb Association.
On Monday, May 11, Parc Cactular will host a sculptural action with the participation of Escola Ondara, Escola de Picapedrers, and ZER Riu Corb, with the support of Daplom, Leader Ponent, and Escola Ermengol. Additionally, on Saturday, May 16, Maldà's cultural center will be the venue for a concert by Jèssica Abu, and on Sunday, May 17, a guided tour led by Eli Rius will be held, followed by a closing vermouth with Ponent Roots, organized by Tres Cadires and the Urgell Regional Council.
Pre-festival activities have already begun with the exhibition Pell i Territori, by Emma Regada, which can be visited at bar Centro until July 4.
