The Tàrrega City Council failed to pass its 2026 budget this Thursday as Junts and CUP voted against the proposal presented by the minority government.

The 24.3 million euro budget proposed by the ERC and PSC coalition was defeated in the plenary session. Opposition groups criticized the executive for presenting the document late and failing to seek the necessary consensus to govern effectively in a minority position.

"It arrives late, poorly, and playing dirty with local entities."

Mayor Alba Pijuan defended the plan as the largest budget in the history of Tàrrega, focusing on housing, security, and urban maintenance. Following the rejection, the Mayor suggested the possibility of a confidence motion to break the political deadlock.
