The El Tallat school in Sant Martí de Maldà is hosting the 'Emotional Ceramics' project, an initiative that merges art, education, and social inclusion, promoted by the Centre d'Art La Panera and Associació Alba.

This artistic proposal, which involves students from the educational center, individuals associated with Associació Alba, and students from the Escola d'Art Ondara de Tàrrega, is being developed under the supervision of visual artist Fernando Renes. The goal is the creation of a large ceramic mural to be installed in the school's courtyard.
Over two weeks, participants are crafting more than 2,000 individually painted tiles, which, once assembled, will form the image of a hackberry tree, a symbolic tree for the school and its surroundings. The work process is highly collaborative, with shared tasks such as painting, varnishing, and preparing the pieces for drying, reinforcing the sense of a collective project.

"The project creates a very serene environment where people can participate from a place of well-being, painting and creating. It is enriching for everyone."

Beyond the final outcome, the initiative emphasizes the shared creative process. Through working with clay, textures, and drawing, a space for intergenerational connection and interaction among diverse groups is fostered, promoting inclusion, emotional well-being, and a bond with the territory and the ceramic tradition of Verdú.

"The objective is to combine different groups of people and channel all this energy into a common work, working without filters to encourage freer and more authentic expression."

The school's management positively evaluates the experience, highlighting the project's connection with the environment and the Vall del Corb, and how it has helped rediscover its beauty with an artistic perspective. The mural, scheduled for installation in October, will become a permanent artwork and a symbol of collective effort and commitment to inclusion. The project receives support from the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Ministry of Culture.
