The Tàrrega city council has expressed its full support for the Alfons Costafreda institute's decision not to join the pilot program that foresees the presence of plainclothes Mossos d'Esquadra in educational facilities.

The Education Councilor, Emili Gilabert, emphasized that the municipal corporation respects and applauds the institute's determination, describing it as

"a decision made sovereignly by the institute; in fact, we applaud it."

Gilabert regretted that the proposed measure is

"completely improvised, without consensus, and has caused much rejection"

and added that the city council opposes this imposition, especially when educational centers perceive it as an intrusion into their pedagogical projects.
For her part, the mayor, Rosa Maria Perelló, rectified her initial statements, which had been favorable to the plan. She attributed her previous stance to a misunderstanding, explaining that she had thought journalists' questions referred to another pilot project on the educational governance model, for which an agreement had recently been signed.
