Tàrrega boosts Municipal Pavilion self-consumption with 36 photovoltaic panels

The measure, which ensures 100% renewable energy for the facility, is part of a broader plan that includes the municipal swimming pools.

The Tàrrega City Council has installed 36 photovoltaic panels at the Municipal Sports Pavilion, with 15 kW of power, to ensure energy self-consumption and renewable sovereignty for the building inaugurated in 1986.

The work at the Municipal Sports Pavilion included removing the old thermal plates, which had reached the end of their useful life, and installing the new panels, which provide a nominal power of 15 kilowatts. This improvement allows the building, which hosts various clubs and the offices of the Sports Department, to operate entirely on 100% renewable energy.

"This intervention represents a firm step towards a more sustainable and self-sufficient energy model, reducing municipal energy expenditure and minimizing the environmental impact of public facilities."

Jose Luis Marín · Councillor for Urban Planning and Energy Transition
In addition to the panel installation, the intervention included waterproofing the roof and renovating the pavilion's dome, tasks scheduled for execution in the coming weeks. Photovoltaic self-consumption allows the utilization of own resources and advances energy sovereignty, one of the municipal government's strategic pillars.
The Tàrrega City Council is already preparing a second phase of the energy transition project, planning to add 180 additional solar panels. This expansion will be allocated to the adjacent Pool Complex and will provide 80 kilowatts of nominal power to supply the indoor and outdoor pools of the sports complex.
The total budget for the actions amounts to 158,796 euros. The project is partially funded by the Generalitat de Catalunya, which provides a subsidy of 220,419 euros within the shock plan for improving sports facilities, covering both the solar panel installation and the comprehensive renovation of the municipal football field lighting.
