The city of Tàrrega hosted a massive Sant Jordi celebration on April 23, 2026, with a large public turnout enjoying the traditional market of books and roses and various cultural activities.

The center of Tàrrega, especially the streets and Plaça del Carme, was filled with visitors during the Sant Jordi celebration. The day, favored by good weather and its coincidence on a weekday, featured a market that brought together 43 stalls, including bookstores, florists, and local organizations.
Among the literary offerings, works by local authors such as 100 cròniques de Tàrrega and Sento. La vida amb un cromosoma de més were presented. Book signings were also held for other writers from the city and the region, including L’avi que detestava la llet and Canela fina, in addition to a new story by the Guixanet association dedicated to the Mercè festivities.

"The satisfaction is great because Tàrrega is a neuralgic and attractive point in the Lleida demarcation for celebrating Sant Jordi."

In the morning, nearly 300 students from five educational centers in the city participated in a collective reading in the Plaça Major, organized by the Pla Educatiu d’Entorn under the slogan “Let's Read in the Street!”. Furthermore, the Associació Alba offered easy-to-read books for the first time, joining Dincat's campaign to promote more accessible texts.
Another highlight was the inauguration of a collaborative tassel canopy in the square known as the Laberint. This installation, made up of 6,000 pieces crafted with 20,000 meters of wool, was the result of the work of over 200 people and six local entities.
