The Tàrrega City Council has completed a 319,217 euro safety project on the C-14 urban crossing this March, focusing on visibility and accessibility for vulnerable road users.

Key upgrades include five solar-powered luminous signs at pedestrian crossings and ten new LED streetlights. Reflective studs have also been embedded into the pavement to enhance night-time visibility along this busy transit route.
New traffic lights at the junction of Plaça del Carme and Avinguda de Catalunya now feature remote timing adjustments and accessibility signals for the visually impaired. The project was partially funded by a 150,000 euro grant from the Catalan Transit Service.

"These actions are part of the 2024 Local Road Safety Plan, aiming to secure a key axis of the municipality."

The project also redesigned the western entrance roundabout near the Alfons Costafreda Institute to slow down incoming traffic. Additionally, Salvador Espriu street has been designated as a 'cycle-street', giving bicycles priority over motor vehicles.
