The BAT theatre group organizes the 37th Ciutat de Tàrrega Theatre Groups Contest, which will bring six selected companies to the Teatre Ateneu on Saturdays between February 21 and March 28.

A total of six companies from across Catalonia have been selected to participate in the contest, chosen from among 51 groups that had submitted 65 proposals. This high participation confirms the event, organized by BAT, as a “benchmark” for amateur theatre in the country.

"The high participation and the very high level of the works received have made the selection of the finalists difficult."

Joan Ribó · President of BAT
The program will open on February 21 with the play El Tartuf (Tartuffe), by Molière, presented by the group Quatre per Quatre from Granollers. Five of the six selected works are comedies, while the sixth is a motivational proposal, including debutants such as the Associació Cultural i Recreativa Pere Cot from Tordera with the thriller Carpe Diem.

"It is the only amateur theatre contest in the Terres de Lleida and it weaves networks between the performing arts, restoration, and commerce."

Alba Pijuan · Mayor of Tàrrega
The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 23, at Cal Trepat. The winning company will have the incentive of performing within the framework of FiraTàrrega 2026. The budget for the contest is 11,000 euros, supported by the Tàrrega City Council and the Institut d’Estudis Ilerdencs.
