The Urgell Canal irrigation community has officially scheduled the start of the March 23 season, marking a significant recovery compared to last year's drought restrictions.

During the general assembly held this Sunday, members agreed to open the floodgates in two weeks. Thanks to recent rains, farmers will start with five irrigation turns (known as 'hidros'). Amadeu Ros, president of the community, expects this number to increase as mountain snow melts.

"We will record every time someone irrigates to track water usage, but for the first two months, general shifts will be implemented."

The management system has been updated to be more agile. For the first 60 days of the campaign, farmers will not need to place individual orders, as general irrigation shifts will be established to simplify the process across the Urgell region.
