The Urgell County Council approved a joint motion this Wednesday rejecting the trade agreement between the European Union and Mercosur to protect the local agricultural sector.

The motion, backed by all political groups, highlights concerns over the negative impact on Catalan farming and livestock. The council urges the Spanish Government to renegotiate the deal to guarantee that quality and sustainability standards are maintained across the board.
The session also finalized agreements for occupational risk prevention and the Reeixim l'Oest 2025 project, which promotes social economy. Additionally, the council confirmed the Work and Training 2026 program, aimed at improving local employment through temporary contracts.
