The Urgell Regional Council, represented by José Luís Marín and Carme Culleré, received the Intelligent Tourist Destination (DTI) seal yesterday at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Madrid, recognizing its sustainable model.

The president of the Urgell Regional Council, José Luís Marín, and the vice president, Carme Culleré, collected the DTI distinction during the event organized by SEGITTUR (State Mercantile Society for the Management of Innovation and Tourist Technologies) at FITUR 2026.
The ceremony, promoted by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism of the Government of Spain, recognized about sixty destinations across the State for their commitment to a tourism model based on innovation, sustainability, and universal accessibility.
The Urgell region obtained the DTI seal in March 2025, following a previous diagnosis carried out by SEGITTUR. This process involved collaboration from the Regional Council's Tourism department, local town halls, the local tourism sector, and the Lleida Provincial Council Tourism Board.
This strategic recognition provides an opportunity for Urgell to continue professionalizing the sector, enhancing the visitor experience, and strengthening its competitiveness, all while preserving its heritage, landscape, and unique identity. The results of the diagnosis will be presented publicly next March.
