The Tàrrega City Council will deploy mixed patrols of the Local Police and the Mossos d’Esquadra in nightlife areas starting this weekend to guarantee public safety during the Christmas period.

This special operation will focus on controlling the exterior of leisure venues at closing time. Officers will conduct preventative searches to avoid the possession of bladed weapons and combat potential crimes and disturbances on public roads.
The decision to focus on these establishments follows a brawl recorded in the early hours of last Sunday at a venue on Avinguda de Catalunya. Although there were no injuries or complaints filed, a video on social media showed a young person brandishing a bladed weapon during the disturbance.

"We will increase surveillance in these areas, where a Local Police vehicle and a Mossos vehicle will patrol jointly."

Alba Pijuan Vallverdú · Mayor of Tàrrega
Mayor Alba Pijuan Vallverdú confirmed that the patrols will continue until after the holidays, as the Christmas season brings an increase in people and more movement in leisure areas. The council has also called for residents to enjoy the festivities calmly and responsibly.
Recently, the Local Security Board reviewed its balance sheet and announced the expansion of the Local Police staff with two more agents (up to 21 officers) and an increase in public video surveillance cameras. The crime resolution rate in Tàrrega has risen to 57.8%.
