The Tàrrega government team (ERC and PSC) will present the 24 million euro municipal budget on Thursday, February 12, which will be voted on February 19 amid the risk of triggering a confidence vote.

The Tàrrega government team, currently in minority following the departure of the CUP last summer, has called an open public event on Thursday, February 12, at 7:30 PM to detail the proposed accounts. This budget, exceeding 24 million euros, represents the highest figure in the history of the council, marking a 6.6% increase compared to the prorogued 2025 accounts.

"The proposal is defined as 'zero-kilometer policy budgets,' since 'the city continues to grow and needs to improve infrastructure, reinforce maintenance, and focus on security and access to housing, two of the issues that generate the most concern among the population.'"

Alba Pijuan · Mayor of Tàrrega
The municipal plenary will vote on the accounts on February 19. Given the minority status of the government (ERC and PSC), it is possible that the proposal may be rejected. In this scenario, the budget approval would automatically be linked to a vote of confidence, opening a one-month period to present an alternative motion of censure, similar to what recently occurred in Lleida.
Mayor Alba Pijuan emphasized that working with prorogued budgets complicates daily management. The local government sent the draft to the opposition groups (Junts and CUP) on January 23 for their assessment. Furthermore, the proposal includes an increase in the municipal staff with the addition of 13 new people, a measure to be presented soon to the Human Resources commission.
