A man with an extensive criminal record attempted to steal money from a register last Thursday at a supermarket on Avinguda Catalunya in Tàrrega, but was restrained by customers and employees.

The man, of Spanish nationality, has accumulated over 20 arrests, mostly for crimes against property, and has served several prison sentences. The Mossos d'Esquadra immediately identified him using security cameras, as he is a known offender in the Urgell region.
The violent attempted assault occurred at 1:43 PM last Thursday, when the individual took advantage of a worker returning change to a customer to try and flee with the money from the register.
The employees and several customers, some of whom were migrants, acted quickly and bravely, lunging at the assailant to prevent him from escaping with the loot. They managed to restrain him and recover the bills, although the man eventually walked away from the establishment.
This action risked the physical integrity of the women involved, as there was even a minor near the register at the time of the incident. The footage of the attempted robbery, captured by security cameras, has gone viral in WhatsApp groups.
