Employees and several customers at a supermarket on Avinguda Catalunya in Tàrrega thwarted a violent robbery attempt last Thursday at noon, restraining the thief and recovering the loot.

The action, described as heroic, took place at 1:43 PM last week when an individual attempted to steal money from one of the cash registers while an employee was giving change to a customer.
The employees and several shoppers, some of them migrants, tackled the assailant, preventing him from fleeing with the banknotes. Although the man left the premises on foot, their action ensured the recovery of the money.
The Mossos d'Esquadra have opened an investigation into the incident, which endangered those present, including a minor near the register. The attempted robbery was captured by security cameras, and the footage has gone viral on WhatsApp groups.
The alleged perpetrator has already been identified. He is a 43-year-old Spanish man, known to authorities for having numerous police and criminal records for similar incidents.
