The event, which should have been a recognition of positive sports values, was marred by the crude tone and sexist, xenophobic, and homophobic comments, according to the complainants. These contents are deemed “absolutely incompatible” with the values promoted by the Castellbisbal City Council.
The seriousness of the situation is compounded by the fact that the show was broadcast before more than 400 people, including children, families, athletes, local entities, and institutional representatives, such as the Secretary of Feminism of the Government of Catalonia.
AxC and JxC have formally submitted the complaint to the Mayor of Castellbisbal, demanding a clear and detailed explanation of how the show was contracted and what content review protocols were followed, or neglected. The opposition considers the incident “very serious and improper for an event organized by the city council.”
The groups request the identification of the person or persons responsible for the hiring and the public definition of corrective measures the municipal government will apply to ensure that no institutional act includes offensive content again. They stress that “asking for excuses is not enough” and that accountability must be established.
