The Court of Instruction number 2 in Sabadell has ordered the provisional dismissal of the complaint filed by the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Sabadell (FAVSabadell) regarding an alleged hate crime.

The judicial proceedings began following a complaint filed on June 22, which questioned events that occurred during the CE Sabadell promotion celebration at the Town Hall balcony. During the event, the crowd was incited to shout insults against the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez.
In the ruling issued on July 20, the magistrate decided to discontinue the proceedings. The decision is based on an analysis of the limits of freedom of expression for public officials, the lack of evidence for a hate crime, and the absence of ex officio prosecution.
The board of the neighborhood association welcomed the fact that the judiciary has addressed the case, although they have decided to accept the judicial resolution without filing an appeal. However, the entity expressed confusion regarding the legal criteria applied to freedom of expression.
