The Ateneu Santcugatenc, in collaboration with Òmnium Cultural Sant Cugat, has opened the seventh edition of its videopoetry contest to promote Catalan audiovisual creation ahead of Sant Jordi.

The initiative, which combines poetry and audiovisual creation, accepts pieces based on poems in the Catalan language, whether they are original or by other authors. The deadline for submitting works is April 12. The contest is open to participants of all ages and from anywhere in the world, provided the content is in Catalan.

The organization highlights that this is the only videopoetry contest held exclusively in the Catalan language.

The prizes remain at a total of 600 euros, distributed as 300 euros for the first place, 200 euros for the second, and 100 euros for the third. A professional jury, consisting of Jesús Ángel Prieto, M. Antònia Massanet, and Amanda Bernal, will select 10 finalists, evaluating the relationship between image, sound, and verbal language.
The awards ceremony will take place on Friday, April 24 at 7 PM, in the assembly hall of the Ateneu Santcugatenc. In addition to the monetary prize, the winner will be able to choose a free course from the entity's training offer.
Alongside the competition, the Ateneu has organized complementary activities, such as poetry recitals and shows, including a free videopoem creation workshop on March 14, taught by visual artist Irene Solé Canet.
