This May, Castellbisbal becomes the venue for the exhibition 'The first steps towards democracy (1976-1978)', an initiative by the Diputació de Barcelona as part of the 'Memòria en Xarxa' project.

The exhibition, which has already begun its tour through various local institutions, focuses on the recovery of self-government and cultural normalization during the early years of the Spanish Transition. This year, 2026, the exhibition is scheduled to visit 24 local museums and will be ongoing until December.
A notable feature of the initiative is its customization for each municipality. At the Museu de la Pagesia de Castellbisbal, where it will be displayed until August 23rd, the exhibition will include the section 'El moviment coral i la reconstrucció cultural' (The choral movement and cultural reconstruction). This part will review the origin and evolution of the Societat Coral La Unió, an entity founded during Franco's regime that, with the advent of democracy, adopted Catalan as its vehicular language and revived nationalist themes.
In addition to Castellbisbal, the Diputació's exhibition will also stop in Calella and Badalona this May. In Calella, the Museu del Turisme i l’Arxiu Històric Municipal will present, from May 1st to October 14th, the space 'La Tralla (1979-1981): parlant clar i català' (speaking clearly and in Catalan), dedicated to the bi-weekly publication that represented a new way of reporting local and regional information. Meanwhile, the Museu de Badalona will host, from May 21st to September 26th, the exhibition 'Un nou futur, una nova esperança' (A new future, a new hope), focusing on the democratic Transition in the city between 1976 and 1978.
