From October 6th to 21st, Rubí hosts the "Parlem d’habitatge" activity cycle, organized by the City Council and the municipal company PROURSA, to commemorate World Habitat Day. The aim is to promote public debate on housing access with expert participation.
The program begins on October 6th at the Mestre Martí Tauler Municipal Library with a screening of the RTVE report "Ahogados por el alquiler" (Drowned by Rent), followed by a discussion with lawyer Pablo Feu. The piece analyzes the housing access problem in various Spanish cities.
The main event will take place on Friday, October 16th, starting at 5:30 PM in Plaça del Doctor Guardiet. It will feature a round table on access difficulties and alternative models, with contributions from the Housing Councilor, Jordi Arnáiz Moreno, representatives from COHABITAC, and the College of Real Estate Agents of Barcelona province. There will also be talks on the social electricity tariff and energy poverty by the Energy Rights Office (ODE), and on housing aid with the Housing Service and PROURSA. Informative stands from various entities will also be present.
On Sunday, October 18th at 11 AM, a guided tour of emblematic buildings in the city titled "L’arquitectura a Rubí al llarg de la seva història" (Architecture in Rubí Throughout Its History) will be held. Pre-registration is required via the Rubí Guiem website.
The closing event is scheduled for Wednesday, October 21st, at 6 PM in the Rubí Forma building, featuring a conference on "Habitatge i racisme immobiliari: barreres, discriminacions i accés efectiu a drets" (Housing and Real Estate Racism: Barriers, Discrimination, and Effective Access to Rights), delivered by Dilara Ekmen, co-director of the Catalan Commission for Refugee Aid (CCAR).
The Councilor for Housing, Jordi Arnáiz Moreno, invited citizens to participate, emphasizing the desire for a broader program and to address a topic of significant interest, especially following the approval of urgent royal decrees to halt evictions and regulate rent contracts. He highlighted that housing access is a crucial issue and that the cycle offers both reflection and practical information.
Last year, the Good Practices Bank of Local Governments, promoted by the Federation of Municipalities of Catalonia (FMC) and the Carles Pi i Sunyer Foundation, recognized the "Parlem d’habitatge" initiative as a significant practice for its innovation and quality.
