The Plenary of Castellbisbal approved on March 30 its incorporation into the Industrial Pact of the Barcelona Metropolitan Region, a key alliance for the industrial competitiveness of the area.

This decision, supported by Som-hi Castellbisbal, Junts per Castellbisbal, Som Veu, and independent councilor Isabel Méndez, seeks to establish a strategic collaboration between public administrations, business organizations, and trade unions. The main objective is to strengthen industry as an economic pillar of the metropolitan territory.

"The Industrial Pact of the Barcelona Metropolitan Region, from a strategic point of view, is much more than a simple technical agreement; it is a shared metropolitan governance tool. It was created to coordinate interests among administrations, businesses, and trade unions with the aim of strengthening industry as the economic base of the territory."

José Goberna · Councilor for Economic Promotion of Castellbisbal
The Councilor for Economic Promotion, José Goberna, emphasized that this initiative is based on three essential principles: overcoming fragmented municipalism through shared industrial strategies, fostering social concertation as a European model of integration among key actors, and promoting an active and dynamic industrial policy.
Goberna stressed that Castellbisbal's adhesion represents a firm political commitment to the reindustrialization and economic modernization of the metropolitan area. He highlighted the importance of this measure for the municipality, which boasts eight industrial estates, excellent connections to the AP7, the Port of Barcelona, and the Barcelona-El Prat Airport, in addition to active policies supporting businesses and sustainability. These characteristics position Castellbisbal as a strategic player within the Metropolitan Region.
Among the expected benefits of the adhesion, José Goberna mentioned the coordination of policies with neighboring municipalities, the creation of more interconnected industrial ecosystems, the prevention of economic isolation, the improvement of infrastructure and mobility, the attraction of companies and investments, access to networks and knowledge, the promotion of sustainability and digitalization, and the generation of quality employment.
