The municipality of Castellbisbal (Vallès Occidental) stood out economically in 2023 by ranking as the fourth locality in Catalonia with the highest GDP per capita, despite a slight rise in unemployment.

The economy of Castellbisbal maintains a leading position in Catalonia, having ranked fourth in 2023 for the highest GDP per capita. This strong performance is supported by the presence of a specialized industrial fabric, including a high-potency active pharmaceutical ingredient (HPAPI) manufacturing plant specializing in ophthalmology.
Regarding the labor market, the municipality ended the year with 490 unemployed individuals, registering an unemployment rate of 6.86%. This increase in unemployment in Castellbisbal makes it one of the six municipalities in Vallès Occidental where joblessness grew, while it decreased in the remaining seventeen. Nevertheless, hiring showed signs of recovery, with 121 contracts signed in 2024, an increase of 18.6% compared to the previous year.
In the real estate sector, the average price of housing sales transactions during 2024 was 2,099.17 euros per square meter. Furthermore, the local business environment saw one of its companies successfully pay off all its debt, concluding its financial reorganization process.
Finally, social and business life also remains active. The new edition of the “CastellbisVals” will start on December 9 and run until January 25, 2026. In the field of innovation, the projects Livefresh and Digipal were the best valued in the business acceleration program Impulsa Startup.
