The Granollers team demonstrated its strength in the competition, which took place last weekend at the Sabadell track. CAG achieved a provisional score of 375.5 points, surpassing CA Vic (371 points) and CA Tarragona (365 points), in a very close classification where the fourth and fifth placed teams, JA Sabadell and UA Terrassa, tied with 347.5 points.
“"We came into the first round with significant absences, including Albert Jaén, Gerard Girbau, Malik, and Guillem, but I believe the changes that had to be made proved their worth."
Despite the absences of key figures such as Albert Jaén, Gerard Girbau, Malik, and Guillem, the team secured four first-place finishes and five second-place finishes. Notable victories include Pau Portet in the 1,500 meters (3:54:35), Íker Prados in the 3,000 meters (8:41:70), Àlex Duran in discus throw (43.18 meters), and Íngrid Valcárcel in javelin (39.37 meters). Xavi Surós (100 meters), Marc Sanchis (discus), Daniel Moyano (hammer), and Ana Monje (400 meters), the latter with a second-place finish, also had strong performances.
The second and decisive round of the championship will be held on March 3 at the Municipal Tracks, where Club Atlètic Granollers will act as host. The goal is to remain among the top two classified teams to secure promotion.
