The Sant Cugat del Vallès City Council has addressed the recent decision by the Valldoreix EMD to cut funding for the Diada, Catalonia's national day, following a political deal.

The local government of Valldoreix reached an agreement with the People's Party (PP) on February 19 to modify the budget. One of the conditions set by the PP was the removal of the economic reserve for the institutional celebration of the Diada.

"Since there will be no Diada in Valldoreix this year, or it will be diminished, I invite all residents to commemorate it in Sant Cugat."

Josep Maria Vallès · Mayor of Sant Cugat
A new budget amendment is expected to be discussed in March to restore the funds. Meanwhile, the Mayor has encouraged all citizens to join the official acts at Plaça de la Vila on September 11.
