Sub-inspector Maria Medina, head of the Mossos d'Esquadra station in Sant Cugat del Vallès, reported a 10% overall drop in crime rates for January 2025.

While general crime has decreased, home burglaries saw a slight uptick with 247 incidents recorded, 13 more than in 2024. Medina, the first woman to lead the local force since October 2024, noted that this remains the third-best year for security metrics since 2021.

"We must provide reassurance that work is being done and significant arrests of groups operating in homes have been made."
