The surroundings of the Torre d'en Feu, one of Sabadell's five Sites of National Cultural Interest (BCIN), are suffering degradation due to the accumulation of waste and weeds. The Associació Cultural Can Feu has called on the City Council, owner of the property, to act immediately to stop this situation and clean the area. According to the association's spokesperson, Aleix González, the neglect poses a fire risk that could affect the building and the access to the FGC tunnel.
The cleaning is particularly relevant as the association plans to organize a theatrical guided tour of the castle's exterior on Sunday, September 6, as part of the Festa Major. This activity will allow citizens to see the exterior of the building, which has recently undergone repair works and demolition of annexes valued at approximately 370,000 euros by the City Council. The interventions have improved the visibility of the chapel of Our Lady of Montserrat, dated 1704.
This investment is part of a comprehensive project ensuring minimum standards for the property's future, although a complete intervention could exceed 3.3 million euros. Currently, there is no planned timeline for further actions, nor has the future use of the castle, acquired by the current municipal government in 2018, been defined.
The theatrical guided tour on September 6 will be the association's second, a decade after the first. Three sessions of about 50 minutes have been scheduled, during which association members will reenact life at the castle around the year 1900.
